beneath the care
and protection of the pine
monkshood gifts us a final bloom

hold your dreams
as tenderly as
the leaf cradles snow

the past
watches over
us

we pile up
our quartered logs
to see us through

living inside
nourished with parsley
tended by humans

woven with care
so fledging feet
will remember softness

blow down
found and saved
the drive to bloom upheld

the comfort and care of color
carries us through
the cold night

piles of wood
wheel barrels of apples
surrounded by the harvest’s securities

solid as stones
the memories
carried

stone memories
held in place
by grace

Heaven bathes the sweet pea
with the gentlest of raindrops.

Her spirit shone past her uncared for mane and coat.
She spoke with her eyes about dignity and hope.
