darkness gestates spring

I recognize eternity
by the light of the moon

seeds slumber while
forced bulbs bloom
in late winter’s light

rooted in the now
the wind
is their breath

how deep the snow
how thick the ice
how far the mountains

undiluted by colors
complexities of grey
emerge and educate

the wind courted snow
and at ten past two
shadow married light
