slow and sticky
spreading sweetness
Like Honey

ripen into lightness
travel on the wind
root where landed
As October Thins
color comes
leaves keep leaving
cold starts claiming space

with red maples
for fall’s pride of place

whoops of color
and a glittering flutter
Blushed With Cold

articulated
by frost

sheep graze
beneath a rainbow of leaves
content in their well earned peace

leaves and water
trembling with the speed
of autumn’s changing colors

as morning warms
an early autumn caress

the light
now gilds
most everything
Blooming Accolade
a flowering crown
honoring the colors
the leaves have left behind
Moving On
as the wind whisks away
leaves and clouds
new intimacies of the landscape divulged

a clustering of geese
search for their formation
leaders emerge
vying for the point position
of their traveling “v”

between the blues
of sky and water
autumn commences coloring

chasing warmth
autumn light traverses
the rocky river bed

in the blue
puffs and fluff travel by
as sumac colors by the barn
a portrait of autumn New England
One Step, Then Another
the last step taken
on this journey
is the first step of the next
The Still Green Path
wander along the waning meadow
beside busy insects gathering
and seeds scattering
Come Sit
watch the slant of light
tilt us
towards autumn
