luminous autumn light
sticks to every
leaf and twig

maple lace
almost sweeter
than syrup

colors smolder
as light negotiates night
landscape of the soul

wild geranium
suggests to the trees
the new season of colors has begun

the single leaf
contains all of fall’s
colors and transitions

orange and purple dawn
honored by the morning moon
color is the light of autumn’s days

Sunlight glittered
in the cold
dancing on the pond

in its missing parts
resides another part of its magnificence.
