Nearness

Tim
seeks me
in the garden

small
white
butterfly

always
hovering
nearby

Ghost
that I glimpse
from the side of my eye

Darting through blossoms
resting on leaves
Taking advantage of sunshine and breeze

Pointing out a shapely cloud
waiting on my mailbox
inquisitive antenna cocked

Reminding me
as mortality
rages on

death
is not
the final stop

    I’m surprised to see a long poem … I can only imagine why here you write a poem with a lot of words: you tell us about death and someone who is still in your garden…

  4. This is beautiful; your words, the photo they hang on, the image of the placement of your stanzas. Amazing. I see these white moths all the time here. Even when they blend into the scenery, they are welcome pollinators. That looks like Cleome.

  11. Jazz Kendrick – Jazz Jaeschke found poetry at mid-life, retired, and got a whole lot happier. Jazz spends many solo hours with her journal and poetry. Her memoir, in poetry, was published in 2002 (titled: Significance). A sequel is incubating. Photography, labyrinths, SoulCollage(R), Nature, and travel arouse her muse and poems spill forth. Jazz lives in Austin, Texas, with three cats, one exuberant Labrador, one even-more-exuberant Golden Retriever, and her just-right man Gary Kendrick. Married in 2018, now Jazz Kendrick.

  12. nanciec13 – Wisconsin – I am a fabric artist and a retired professional minister in the Catholic Church. I am married for 40+ years to a most fabulous man. We have 4 adult children, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 son-in-law (who we also consider to our children!) and 4 grands. I love to weave, sew and design garments for myself; bead, read, write and color. I am also a spiritual Companion/Director and have a special place in my soul for women who are healing and in need of healing from trauma and abuse. I love coffee, quiet reflective prayer time at my kitchen table and long walks to breathe in the Holy Spirit. I would like to learn how to spin yarn and will someday create a spun, hand dyed/painted, beaded, woven fabulous garment of peace!

  16. LB – I'm a woman who loves spending time on the motorcycle and in, or on, any body of water. I love traveling and reading, baking and cooking, taking way too many pictures, and enjoying my family and friends. Life is an adventure, and I want to remember and express my joy for it! This is a journal for me ... so I'll never forget the good times and to remind me of them on more challenging days.

  18. Cynthia Guenther Richardson – Pacific NW – Hello fellow readers and bloggers, Writing has always been a powerful connector to diverse ideas and people. We each are a meaningful part of this beautiful, ever-widening web of life. Blogging enables more interaction, which I love even after 11 years of blogging posts on three different sites. For thirty years I was an addictions/mental health counselor and also a manager of home care services for elderly folks. Now that I have hit 70 and am more devoted to a creative life! I've published online or in literary journals/collections several times, including fiction and creative non-fiction pieces and poetry over five decades. Additionally, I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for an excerpt of my novel-in-progress, Other than Words (the work gathering dust at present), about a mute dancer and her impact on her adopted community and a world-travelling photojournalist. I also am working on a connected set of stories about a close-knit town in northern Michigan. On Wordpress I enjoy writing about living richly despite (or because of) life's setbacks and a diagnosis of heart disease at age 51. Posts tagged "memoir" share spiritual adventures, interactions with nature, the healing of trauma's impact and challenges of writing full-time. Short stories and creative nonfiction, and poetry are favorite genres but I enjoy sharing my photography as well My hope is my offerings reflect a profound faith in God and our humanness which cloaks spiritual natures. I include myself as part of the diverse group of writers who discover and share the illuminating, positive experiences amid life's uncertainties and hardships.
