  1. derrickjknight – UK – I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.

A nice abstract to get us guessing without your haiku

  4. Seeing into, not just seeing, is what art can do–for the artist with a camera that helps, and for us, who often forget even to lo look–but also for the sake of beauty itself . Thank you for the woodsy morning vision this Sunday morning. My whole day is enriched. Lord, that I may see, see into, and through.

  5. amusingword – I miss my cat... I am now an older woman ready to retire. I'm first and foremost an avid reader who loves to eat a meal with a book propped up on my trusty BOOK CHAIR. I even read when I brush my teeth, I guess it's my one true life long obsession. I've always been a curious soul. I Love music although I've walked away from the obsession of it, now I just enjoy it now and then! My mind is full of questions to ask about anything that looks interesting. I consider myself eccentric and somewhat paranoid.

I had a pair of Yellow-Bellied- Sap-Suckers kill my big weeping birch tree, it took 3 years. Some red squirrels came also and peeled the bark off for more sap.

  7. Birch are beautiful at a distance, but close-up is where their real beauty lies. Lovely!

  8. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. My magic is returning after many years of having lost it to the streets of life. There have been some very dark times, but these have made my journey rich with the stuff of possibility. Because out of darkness has come the glittering beauty of illumination. It has come with struggle and toil, and not without help--but I am here, and I am mostly in tact, and I'm here to share the rest of this journey with you all if you care to join me.......

  10. kinneret – Hello, and welcome. I'm writing this blog under an alias. Why an alias? I started to write what may be described as an "American Gothic" novel (sort of Henry James/ Franz Kafka with violence) with some autobiographical details. ..when I started this blog I just decided to use the alias. This blog is about art and art history, but my interests also include literature, film analysis, psychology, forensic psychology, faerie tale analysis, cognitive therapy, cognitive linguistics, classical theater, World War II, and Russian and British history. My favorite writers include Kafka, the Brontes, and Philip K Dick. Thank you for reading this blog and I will happily reply to any comments.

You have so many beautiful images in this blog. It’s very calming to look at nature.

  11. firefly1275 – Louisiana – V. Rose enjoys creating mystical characters and worlds, with a touch of the modern day world. When she is not writing or thinking up her next story ideas, she is enjoying South Louisiana sunsets.

    Very beautiful photo shot.

  12. flahertylandscape – I like to live landscape stories…I am a landscape architect; and I like to write stories about people, plants, gardens and the landscape.
    flahertylandscape says:

The beauty you share from plants, in words and photos does not cost any of us hard work or technological assistance–these experiences are free to anyone who walks outside, and listens, sees, smells, touches. Thank you for showing us the depth and breadth of that beauty!

  13. Dr. Denny Wilkins – Dr. Denny Wilkins professes journalism at a small, private university in the Northeast. He has climbed, hiked, kayaked, photographed, skied, and otherwise meandered aimlessly throughout the American West for decades. He has degrees in geology, environmental studies, and communication — and has tried to make use of them as a co-founder of the progressive cultural blog ScholarsandRogues.com. He’s broadly interested in how the world works and why it works that way. He hates writing, although he does like having written well.
