  2. derrickjknight – UK – I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.
    derrickjknight says:

How on earth (or snow) did you get that?

  3. Cara Lockhart Smith – I am a writer and illustrator of books for children, and a painter of pictures. I live in the Scottish Borders, and this landscape provides many of the settings, and the details, for my picture books, pictorial maps and large Northern Alphabet Postcards.
    Cara Lockhart Smith says:

What a wonderful moment to capture – such a rare image….

    1. There has been a large flock feeding in the tree and on the ground. They have gotten rather tame and I can just stand on the porch and shoot away – which I have been doing quite a lot. When eating off the ground they tend to toss them up into the air rather than just take one from the snow. Who knows why…maybe just in the spirit of fun. This was just one of those magic moments – a ‘happy accident’!

  5. Isn’t it fun to catch a bird eating? I was so thrilled when my pix of the mockingbird eating the viburnum berries came out. I love that “Ohhhh” moment when a “magic” picture that I have downloaded pops up on the screen for the first time.

I love how simple, but brilliant your poems are. Very inspiring!

  7. Kentucky Angel – Owensboro, KY – I'm a somewhat normal, extremely old, grammy, living in Kentucky, and living with MS since the age of 15. Just turned 72, so that's a lot of years. I would tell you how many, but I flunked math, and numbers give me a headache, so I avoid them at all cost. I love to crochet, knit, scrapbook, cook and visit with friends in the lobby of the building I live in. Most of the time I have a sense of humor. Other times I don't. At one time I was a musician with a guitar, but after age and time, plus a few falls, I can no longer play my guitar, so it now lives with my son. Now I play the radio, always with perfect pitch. Well, almost always. Depends on the station or the CD I'm listening to. I try to find something to laugh about every day, another way to get thru each boring day without picking my nose in public.

    Love it Seedbud. Great capture.

  8. Gretchen Del Rio – Crestline, California, USA – I first discovered the magic of water based colors when many years ago I began to paint with procion dyes on silk. I loved the unexpected quality of the process. It was so exciting to never be sure what the colors and water would combine to produce. It seemed as though the medium had its own passion. Painting with watercolors and paper is much the same. I love the color combinations and separations that occur spontaneously as the color floats on the water. You can never totally predict what effect will result. If you try to control the medium too much, your painting will be very tight losing its aliveness. The artist must be bold and decisive or the work will not be clear and fresh. It is really like a dance. It becomes a controlled folly in knowing when to let go and when to take charge of the direction that the painting is taking. The images that I paint reflect my emotions and are expression of my life experience. They are not extensively planned, but rather evolve as the painting progresses. I am always surprised by the end result since it comes into being because of what the medium and emotion has suggested. The paintings are from my heart and I always fall in love with the subject. I believe that we are all connected and, if an image touches you, it is because we all have the same heart even though our paths may be different. Most of all, painting what I paint makes me happy. The paintings are my own path unfolding. They are an opening door for me and contain my own passion for life.
    Gretchen Del Rio says:

This beauty took a lot of patience.

  11. What a perfect sentiment for this wonderful photograph 😉 One of the joys of winter- the nearly tame hungry little birds. I hope spring finds you soon 😉 Best wishes, WG

  12. moonminded – Five years have now passed since I started this blog - and I’ve posted 69 times, which is a pretty decent average for me. Although slow at times, my intention and effort have been steady and I’m in quite a different space altogether from when I started this blog and I’m winding it down for now. If you want to do anything - go for it. Be patient with it, but totally go for it!
    moonminded says:

I so often enjoy your posts but never see the ubiquitous ‘like’ button that I would use to indicate “thank you for this little moment of happiness you gave me” — but you forced my hand with this one! I HAD to comment to say wow and thanks:)

  13. firefly1275 – Louisiana – V. Rose enjoys creating mystical characters and worlds, with a touch of the modern day world. When she is not writing or thinking up her next story ideas, she is enjoying South Louisiana sunsets.

    Very beautiful photo shot!

  14. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. My magic is returning after many years of having lost it to the streets of life. There have been some very dark times, but these have made my journey rich with the stuff of possibility. Because out of darkness has come the glittering beauty of illumination. It has come with struggle and toil, and not without help--but I am here, and I am mostly in tact, and I'm here to share the rest of this journey with you all if you care to join me.......
    2ndhalfolife says:

    How do you manage! Magic!!
