  5. There is one pigeon that can only survive by eating the fruit of a particular plant… the link doesn’t say which plant though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-crowned_pigeon – They are a protected bird. Found in the Florida Keys.

I went to the state park site that we visited but couldn’t find the plant/ berries/ fruit that it eats.

Best to you and yours! Hugs Jules.

excellent shot and happy New Year to you

  7. Lovely work! Sometimes with birds you have to wait for quite a while before you get your shot. It takes some patience. Some food for the birds surely help 🙂

Great work, thank you for sharing!

    Have a great 2015!

  8. Hello, leaf and twig. I have been following you for over a year or more. I always leave a like and enjoy your pictures and poems so much. I think I have commented a few times in the distant past. I don’t think I have received a visit from you or a like. That is OK. You have so many followers I know it must be difficult to visit them all. I am thinning out my following list and will be saying goodbye to you. The best in the coming year.

  9. Tom's Nature-up-close Photography and Mindfulness Blog – My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. Keep those superb photos coming! (I’m so glad that birds miraculously survived the mass extinction event that wiped out all of the other dinosaurs! Birds, of course, are a type of dinosaur… and it’s probably their small size that saved them.)
Hoping you have a healthy and enlightening New Year!

  12. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. My magic is returning after many years of having lost it to the streets of life. There have been some very dark times, but these have made my journey rich with the stuff of possibility. Because out of darkness has come the glittering beauty of illumination. It has come with struggle and toil, and not without help--but I am here, and I am mostly in tact, and I'm here to share the rest of this journey with you all if you care to join me.......

  19. Cat Among the Pigeons Press – I make primarily handmade original prints, and sculptural artist’s books with poems. Themed often on encounters with natural and urban environments. I want to place the reader of my work in a particular moment, to prompt an emotional response as well as thoughtfullness in the viewer. I hope the work brings a pause for thought, a lightness of spirit, an escape from the busyness of modern life that can be overwhelming. I have been making and exhibiting artists’ books, multiples, prints and mixed media since completing a degree Ba (Hons) Print Media Book Arts & Craft in 2001. My work is held in private and public collections. Website & blog: http://catamongthepigeonspress.wordpress.com Twitter/Instagram: @CatPigeons Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CatAmongthePigeons
