I’ve been trying for years to get a picture of this one heron, but everytime I try, he evades me!!! lol He knows….and right when I want to take the pic, he takes off….even while watching two and their mating dance last week, they would fly up right when I was ready~! I think they are ethereal!! 🙂

  2. chrisstov – I have reached retirement age. I am a keen amateur photographer. I like walking and listening to classical and film music, also some popular and pop music from the 60s and 70s. I like reading and have recently discovered Kindle and lately the kindle fire.

I don’t think this picture is so much of the heron itself, but the reflection in the water and the curving nature of the background both above and in the water.

  4. AngieG9 – Owensboro, KY, USA – I'm a somewhat normal person who happens to have MS, therefore my blog name "A Train Wreck Looking For A Home". I try to keep a sense of humor about everything in life, including the times when I run into the walls or bang my head on the furniture, and can always depend on my kids to keep me centered. MS has changed my life, but when I'm in remission life goes on as always. And what a life it is! I'm in my golden years and still looking for the gold, but it's not a bad trip.

I love the reflection in the water. So beautiful.

  5. Sheila – I have a passion for the outdoors and I am most happy enjoying what nature has to offer. Hobbies include photography, birding, Pickleball, astronomy, biking, and hiking. I have been happily married, for 50 years, to an amazing person.

I love your note: in this world and the other. I wonder if the heron knows he lives in both? Do they see their own reflection?

Great Blue Herons are such beautiful, elegant birds.

Sorry, yes they do eat koi. Maybe in the other world they, and all other animals and humans, will be vegetarians…

Another thought for “Anonymous” — maybe if you arrange some good hiding places underneath rocks in your pond, Ethel will have more protection.

  10. I have only been able to catch ‘my’ blue heron at a distance…
I agree delightful ‘reflectiveness’ – which apparently isn’t a word, but should be!

  11. Naraluna – I love writing. Having the pen in my hand has always helped me to pull myself together in difficult times. Sometimes I'm just too shy to share my ideas with everyone, so this blog is quite a challenge for me. But I'm guess I'm ready to open up and share my craziness with you. My blog is about anything that comes to my mind. I don't write about a particular subject. I'm hyperactive and have many things on my mind. I love art and nature. I believe in the kindness of human beings although sometimes it's quite difficult to see it, to find it. I'm a freelance translator and I love working at home. I love languages. Sometimes I write in Spanish and sometimes in English. Thanks for visiting my page! :) Have a nice day! Me encanta escribir. Soy traductora. ¡Qué tengan un gran día!
