  1. Mike Howe – Pembrokeshire, Wales – I am an ecologist and a composer of guitar based instrumental melodies signed to the Real Music label in California. I like to write about my work, music and nature conservation and how it all comes together. I try not to write about things I don't know much about.

Beautiful photograph, I love the rain drops and of course the lovely iris flower, many of which are appearing around our house now. Thanks 🙂

  2. maryoconnor12 – Along the Connecticut shoreline – I am a writer, poet, community volunteer, pupil of psychology, writing instructor, guest speaker, artist, lover of nature, curious traveler and author of Life Is Full of Sweet Spots, An Exploration of Joy, as well as Dreams of a Wingless Child, a book of award-winning poetry. An advocate of the power of writing as an agent of change, I enjoy speaking to community groups about the joy of making words sing and conduct creative poetry writing workshops for inmates at the State of Connecticut’s York Correctional Institution. As a writer and a painter, I enjoy living along the Connecticut shore, where I infuse everyday observations of the natural world with the sensitivity and insightfulness that tend to define my experience of life. It is these reflections that have helped me realize that one need not look far to find an element of peace, of celebration, of joy, in this inordinate world of which we are all a part.

  4. Alex Smithson – I have a strong passion for photography. I love to write and publish articles, reviews and photography work as I aim to pursue a full-time photography career in the future. I raise awareness for Mental Health as it’s close to my heart and I want to make sure the photography work I produce gives hope to anyone who may feel like they don’t have a voice and that it’s always okay to be your actual self and that you’re always free to express yourself for who you truly are.

I like the photo because of the raindrops. I wonder, how do you get something such as an insect or raindrops close up at just the right time?

    1. The more photos I take the more photos I ‘see’ and having a camera at the ready seems to create a lot of luck.

Oh because when I try to take a photo, I like to try and take something close-up (e.g. a bee) but when I do, the bee in a particular photo looks a tad fuzzy, is there a way I can improve on it to get more views and followers for my blog?

      2. A lot of it is just practice and experimentation – and knowing your camera. It really is worth it to read the manual and understand your settings. You have to play around with how close you are to something – being too close can create fuzziness – you may need to step back and zoom in. Or take a wider shot and crop it close. I’ve learned a lot from looking at others photos. Have fun.

  12. Mary Mageau – Queensland, Australia – I am a writer and nature photographer, living in a small rural village in the Samford Valley. Here on Australia’s east coast, surrounded by the Brisbane State Forest Park and four rugged mountains, I enjoy exploring new and creative ways to engage with the natural world that surrounds me. My husband and I often roam around Australia as we visit the outback and cities of interest. Our favourite destinations also include the islands scattered throughout the Pacific Ocean. With my notebook, pen and camera at hand, I’ve enjoyed researching and photographing amazing places and scenery, together with the stunning flowers and foliage found in these unique parts of our world. This blog―Nature as Art and Inspiration―has developed through my love of writing and travel.

  13. Dr. Denny Wilkins – Dr. Denny Wilkins professes journalism at a small, private university in the Northeast. He has climbed, hiked, kayaked, photographed, skied, and otherwise meandered aimlessly throughout the American West for decades. He has degrees in geology, environmental studies, and communication — and has tried to make use of them as a co-founder of the progressive cultural blog ScholarsandRogues.com. He’s broadly interested in how the world works and why it works that way. He hates writing, although he does like having written well.

    Wonderful yet again …
