2. Lynda – I moved from California to Alabama in 2008, and now raise chickens, geese and ducks for fun. Most days will find me gardening, quilting, reading a good book, or occasionally writing for fun. I am a Sabbath keeping Christian. I will not apologize for my freedom of religion, nor will I tell you're wrong if your own beliefs differ from mine. Our country was founded on that right. I'm not rich, nor privileged, or powerful. I am an underdog, one among many, who lately feels like barking. Sorry, but somebody needs to say it out loud, and I am open to your comments and thoughts.

I look forward to that hatching.

  3. oceannah – I'm a lover of Earth Mother, giver of life. My organic homestead in the mountains of NY state is a place of constant learning. My people skills are better than my computer skills. Swimming in the briny blue ocean brings me deep joy.

  4. Gretchen Del Rio – Crestline, California, USA – I first discovered the magic of water based colors when many years ago I began to paint with procion dyes on silk. I loved the unexpected quality of the process. It was so exciting to never be sure what the colors and water would combine to produce. It seemed as though the medium had its own passion. Painting with watercolors and paper is much the same. I love the color combinations and separations that occur spontaneously as the color floats on the water. You can never totally predict what effect will result. If you try to control the medium too much, your painting will be very tight losing its aliveness. The artist must be bold and decisive or the work will not be clear and fresh. It is really like a dance. It becomes a controlled folly in knowing when to let go and when to take charge of the direction that the painting is taking. The images that I paint reflect my emotions and are expression of my life experience. They are not extensively planned, but rather evolve as the painting progresses. I am always surprised by the end result since it comes into being because of what the medium and emotion has suggested. The paintings are from my heart and I always fall in love with the subject. I believe that we are all connected and, if an image touches you, it is because we all have the same heart even though our paths may be different. Most of all, painting what I paint makes me happy. The paintings are my own path unfolding. They are an opening door for me and contain my own passion for life.

Wonderful imaginative thought. It does look like a giant egg.

Each one was capped with a dome of snow much like the nest in your photograph. Incidentally, there were 18 nests in a 3 mile stretch which made me appreciate these shrubs even more.

  40. Cindy McIntyre – I've been a self-employed photographer/writer for most of my life, and have worked for the National Park Service and U.S. Fish & Wildlife, as well as the DOD at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Hunter Liggett, California in recent years. In 2009 I was a health care worker, a Census Bureau enumerator, and a substitute teacher (all at once) thanks to the Great Recession. But as a photographer-writer-artist I have four books and hundreds (thousands?) of published photographs and articles to my credit. I've also photographed hundreds of portraits and weddings in my 35-year career and sold "billions and billions" (thanks Carl Sagan) of fine art prints. As I approached my seventh decade, I became active in the resistance to the Christo-fascist MAGA regime that is dismantling our democracy, shredding the U.S. Constitution, inflicting cruel kidnappings and detentions in concentration camps on our brown residents (to include documented and citizens), demonizing the poor and vulnerable by taking away food and medical benefits, firing federal employees en masse without cause, aggregating the data of every person in this country so it can be used to punish us, and so many more horrors. I took an oath many times in my life of federal service. I am still bound by that oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." I have been cited by the City of Lawton, Oklahoma for the crime against society for holding a peaceful protest in a city park without a permit. Apparently red states don't believe in the First Amendment. I will continue to make Good Trouble, Necessary Trouble" until we rid this country of this horrendous regime. 41. kandiceswearingain – Kennesaw, Ga – I am newly single mother of 2 kids under 4 years old. I have been a stay at home mom since I was put on strict bedrest at 20 weeks with my first child. I was able to use some of that time to dabble in art again. I’ve always loved creating but was too shy to show my work. Through the help of some art based facebook groups and youtube tutorials, I was able to gain the confidence to play and enjoy it in a new way. I have more fun with my art now and enjoy sharing it with others. It makes me happy, and hopefully you can be positively moved by some of it too. Feel free to leave a comment or question on any image, I appreciate feedback. I enjoy playing with techniques and ideas, and finding ways to make something that may seem ordinary, unique and beautiful. 43. Cheri Isgreen – I have been a lifelong rider and horse lover. I got my first "horse" at a yard sale; it was a pony actually. It was sometime in the early 60's. I was in 3rd or 4th grade. The pony was perhaps $10. My sister, brother, and I pooled our money and led him home. At the time my parents were traveling, and my Uncle Bill promptly made us return it. (stay tuned...more to come...)

    Great insight and imagery.

  45. Paul F. Lenzi – New Hampshire – Retired insurance company executive. New Jersey born and bred, now enjoying the lush mountains and blissful tranquility of quaint New Hampshire. There is no theme to this blog. My poetry is eclectic. My polemics are judgmental. My prose is thoughtful. All of my writing is unschooled but emphatically heartfelt. Some of it is for fun and allows me to play with and experiment with words and ideas. Some of it vents my emotion and is therein therapeutic. All of it has the quality of subjective truth and conveys who and what I am in my depths.
    Paul F. Lenzi says:

    Very nicely done.

  46. restlessjo – Hi! I’m Jo! Johanna when I’m feeling posh, Jan to my Dad, and Joasiu to my Polish family. A bit of a mix-up, that’s me. The one constant, however, is my restless nature. I love to travel and to explore our world. It doesn’t have to be the big wide world. I can be ridiculously happy not too far from home, so long as I’m seeking new horizons. Of course I have a wish list, and it was to help me fulfil my dreams that I started to write travel guides for a venture called Simonseeks. I’d always kept a travel diary, and it was hugely satisfying to share my experiences and to make new friends who shared my passion for travel. Alas, Simonseeks hit a few troubles, but I still find myself writing about my travels. I’ve become addicted. I’d love to share them, and to make more friends. So, it has to be a blog- right? Or do I mean- write?

  48. lara1ellis – Virginia – One of Lara's photos was Recently published in Under The Hat Magazine in their 50 photographers to watch in 2013 issue. Two of her photos were published in the 2011 Farmers & Merchant's Bank Calendar. Other photo achievements include 1st place winner of the 2007 Chincoteague Bay Trail's End Photo Contest and Second Place winner & an honorable mention in the 2006 Shenandoah Audubon Photo Contest. Many of her photos can be purchased as prints, canvases and greeting cards at her Website. Lara Ellis makes her home in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband where she has been photographing nature scenes for the past 20 years. Many of her photos are also shot on the Virginia shore on or near Assateague Island where they often spend time in the summer. Her photos often capture the smallest details in nature that are frequently overlooked by most of us as we go about our busy days. She hopes that her work inspires others to slow down take a few deep breaths and really see the beauty that is all around us every day. She is always amazed at how the same area from day to day can look so completely different depending on the weather, time of year and the lighting. “One day the valley looks calm and serene whereas another day the clouds create an ominous approaching drama as they roll over the mountains.” Lara was born in Laguna Beach California in 1969 to parents who also have a deep appreciation of nature and the environment. She fondly remembers childhood camping trips up and down the Oregon and California coast with her family. She remembers the most enjoyable thing to her on these trips was learning to identify the different plants, birds, butterflies and animals in the areas where they camped. She is deeply concerned about the state of our planet, particularly global warming and deforestation and hopes that her photos underscore the importance of protecting and saving the earth that is ours and every living creature's beautiful and fragile home. She hopes her viewers enjoy her photos as much as she enjoys taking them. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to contact her at: contact@earthpulsenaturephotography.com

  50. Hilde – My husband (Martin, 44, American), who loves me dearly, says I am the smartest woman he has ever met. The woman I am in love with, though, (Dee, 58, Dutch) and who does not love me in return, she calls me a "silly girl". Both call me a "Drama Queen". I am 49, from Germany and in a very weird situation. I love to travel up and down the US East Coast, I love good food (anything vegetarian), I am obsessed with Indian Tea and Ostfriesentee, and I am a (crazy?) Cat Lady. Everything in my life has been accompanied by some kind of music. So whatever happened, whenever in my life, it had a soundtrack behind it. That is still the case. Everything that I do or that happens with me is happening in front of a musical back ground.
    Hilde says:

The total number of ratings of my titles there is in excess of 80, with an average of 4.4 stars. I am happily married to Ronald Sharp, the creator of the Grand Organ in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. He has consistently encouraged me to write, and has spent much time in editing, compiling, and designing the covers of each book. I'm keen on swimming, love animals, and appreciate good music and art.

    Awesome!

  55. themofman – I'm a 2D visual artist. I'm primarily an illustrator but I also lived many years as a professional photographer and graphics designer.

  56. thisisnotbangkok – Los Angeles – It is my job to take the pictures. It is up to you to interpret them as you wish... Most of my shots are taken with a Canon 300 HS and my Moto G7 Power. Saving up for that first DSLR :} Interests: photography, tech, the Internet, reading, film. Many photos here are available for PURCHASE as 5x7 and 8x10 prints. 57. susank456 – Kansas City, MO – I love to be outdoors, hiking, pheasant hunting, playing with my dogs. And I love to take pictures of the things I see and write about my experiences. I don't take life too seriously, I poke fun at myself and just about everybody else. I've gotten selfish as I've gotten older.

    Very cute!
