Yes, the shadows from the fence really do seem like sundial shadows and they are so “straight” it does indeed seem to say “noon”. I’m struck by the contrast between the man-made straight lines and the wiggly, irregular forms of Nature.

Put me in the wondering place — just what are nature’s straight lines? Prairie horizons, tulip stems, stands of pine trees. And all of those are tempered with curves. Just why do we like straight lines so much? But it’s certainly a striking contrast in your photo. Lovely.
