Pure serendipity here. I found a link to an interview with the poet William Carlos Williams this morning, and when I went to the interview, I found a mention of his poem, Queen Anne’s Lace. Lovely photo, and a lovely poem.

In England an old name for Cow Parsley is Queen Anne’s Lace – after the fashion for lace frills on sleeves during her reign.

We have them, too, in our part of the country. I’d never see them before until we moved here. I can stare at them for hours.
