Your photo reminds me of the cut-paper silhouettes on my grandmother’s wall. She had a Victorian couple in a garden, and an English garden scene rather than the more usual profiles. I loved them, and thought paper-cutting was great fun.
It is good because if offers only the witnessing. It sees something beautiful and sees it. And like the soul, passively observes with no thought beyond to control or complicate. It seeks nothing from you but offers wholly its world.
There is its simple purity. It speaks without words. It does not tell.

Perfect haiku to excellent photo. As soon as I saw the title, I knew we’d get a woodpecker. I must be well tuned in to you.
Wow what a fantastic photo. Love the woodpecker.
Lovely.

The loud echo in the wood, can almost be heard.
I can hear his kin knocking on one of our trees right now. 🙂 A delightful post to appear on Arbor Day.
I loved the title … and the idea of the post: knock .. knock..
So true! I love the silhouette, too.
